What goals or resolutions do you have for the new year?
ENGAGE: What is one thing the Holy Spirit is calling you to rebuild in your life this year?
READ: Nehemiah 1:1-11 (NLT)
READ: Nehemiah 1:4
ENGAGE: Change begins when we are moved. When was the last time you felt moved to do something for God? Explain to the group the circumstances and how God moved in you.
ENGAGE: On the other hand, is complacency. What is one spiritual discipline you plan to incorporate or strengthen in your life this year that the group can keep you accountable to?
READ: Nehemiah 1:5-6a
ENGAGE: Prayer begins with the understanding of who is in control. The first step is prayer. Take a moment to pray individually over what God is calling you to rebuild. Write down your prayer either on a piece of paper or in a note on your phone and date it. Spend at least the next week praying boldly over what God is putting on your heart that His will be done in that place. Tuck it away somewhere secure as you continue praying over it.
READ: Nehemiah 1: 6b-7
READ: Revelation 2-3
ENGAGE: Prayer involves repentance. What are some of the reasons you have found in your life that you don’t repent?
READ: Nehemiah 1:11a
ENGAGE: Prayer needs to be fearless. Maybe you don’t feel comfortable sharing your dream or what God has been putting on your heart, but have you asked God for those things in a bold way? How can the group come along side you in praying boldly?
Encourage your group to read through the first three chapters of Nehemiah this week. Take Prayer requests and pray together.
