Take a few minutes to check in with everyone in your group.
What was your favorite tradition or celebration in your family growing up?

READ: Luke 2:8-20 (NLT)
READ: Matthew 2:1-11 (NLT)

Worship: An authentic and surrendered response to the majesty and mercy of God.

READ: Romans 12:1 (NIV)

ENGAGE: Describe the last time you felt true, authentic, worship? What did it look like? How did you get to that point?

Observation #1: Their worship was not about them, it was about him.

ENGAGE: Is our worship/lifestyle based on our convenience or our comfort rather than sacrifice and commitment? Give a few examples.
ENGAGE: Is our worship contingent on style, personal preference, or our mood?

Observation #2: Their worship was not in response to what he did but to who he was.

ENGAGE: Is your worship conditional? Is it based on circumstances? Is worship only appropriate when we see him working?
ENGAGE: How can we be more worshipful when things aren’t going well and we don’t see the works God is doing in our lives?

Observation #3: Their worship was not private, it was public.

ENGAGE: Name two to three ways you plan to make your worship public this week. How will you “go tell it on the mountain”?
ENGAGE: Who are you inviting to Christmas Eve? Whether you are at Hope or another church in a different city, how are you going to invite people to hear the Hope of Jesus?

ENGAGE: Name a few ways you have found it difficult in the past or even presently to worship?
ENGAGE:  Worship is about who's in control. Worship is relinquishing power. What is one area in your life that you need to relinquish control to God and stop grasping for control yourself?
