How are those “resolutions” you had at the beginning of the year?
Are there any faith commitments that you wanted to make or made, but need the group to keep you accountable?
READ: Acts 4:8-12 (NLT)
READ: 1 Peter 2:21 (NLT)
ENGAGE: Solus Christus, In Christ Alone. Discuss as a group this concept of Christ Alone. How are we to respond to this phrase?
1. The Humanity of Jesus
READ: Luke 2:41-52 (NLT)
ENGAGE: Jesus was teachable and dedicated to consistent growth. In what ways have you been teachable and dedicated to consistent growth in your faith this year? What areas of growth are you involved in right now outside of weekend services?
ENGAGE: Read the above passage once more out loud as a group. If Jesus is our example, what are some of the ways you can pull out of this passage that we should be implementing in our own lives?
ENGAGE: What are the areas of spiritual distraction in your life right now?
ENGAGE: Are you currently involved in helping someone else grow?
2. The Humility of Jesus
READ: Matthew 3:1-17 (NLT)
READ: John 1:14a (NLT)
READ: Hebrews 4:14-15 (NLT)
READ: Philippians 2:5-11 (NLT)
ENGAGE: Jesus associated himself with the message of relationship rather than religion. When was the last time you spent true, and vulnerable, an honest time with God?
ENGAGE: What does your daily relationship with God look like? What would you like for that daily relationship consist of?
ENGAGE: If you have the supplies and time, take communion as a group. Remember the sacrifice he has made for us in order to gain a personal relationship with each one of us. Pray that daily, we begin to look more and more like him.
Take prayer requests and have each person pray for the person to their left.
