Take a few minutes to check in with everyone in your group.
Are there any advent traditions that were in your home growing up? What is your favorite Christmas tradition you keep up with?

ENGAGE: How is God calling you to be more fearless this week?

READ: Luke 2:1-7

Hospitality: The opportunity to open our hearts & homes to those whom God sends our way, especially to those who have yet to open their hearts to Christ.

1. Open Hearts to those we know

READ: Romans 12:13 (NLT)
READ: 1 Peter 4:8-10 (NLT)

ENGAGE: Name one specific way you plan to serve those you know, those you’re close to this Christmas season.
ENGAGE: Is there anyone in your family you need to open your heart to?
ENGAGE: Is there anyone in the body of Christ that you need to forgive this season?
ENGAGE: We all have someone in our lives that for various reasons, our hearts aren’t as open to them as they should be. Write down the person’s name that comes to your heart and spend a few minutes praying specifically for that person and how you can love them well this month.

2. Open Hearts to those we don’t know

READ: Hebrews 13:2 (NLT)
READ: Leviticus 19:33-34 (NLT)
READ: Matthew 25:31-40 (NLT)

ENGAGE: What sticks out to you in the verses you just read?
ENGAGE: What is your attitude towards those who are moving to our area who are different cultures and religions?
ENGAGE: What does Christ say our attitude should be?
ENGAGE: Where is your heart when it comes to those who are less fortunate? Are you even thinking about them?

3. Open Hearts to Jesus

READ: Luke 2:7 (NLT)
READ: John 1:10-13 (NLT)

ENGAGE: Have you opened your heart to the Lord? Have you fully submitted to his guidance and authority in your life?
ENGAGE: Is there any forgiveness or bitterness left in your heart from past pain?
ENGAGE: How can the group keep you accountable to experiencing the Lord this Christmas season?

Take prayer requests and spend time in prayer together. Maybe break up into smaller groups if available to pray over everyone in your group!
