VBS Frequently Asked Questions

VBS Frequently Asked Questions

Participants

Can my child pick their Crew on Day 1 and attend with a friend or sibling?
Yes, we do not pre-group prior to the start of VBS. Your child will select their Crew on Day 1, and they will stay in the same Crew all week. We encourage friends/family who want to be in the same Crew to wait in the lobby and walk into the auditorium as a group and select a Crew.
What are the crew colors?
Green, Red, Yellow, and Purple
Can someone else drop off and pick up my child?
Yes, another adult can drop off and check in your child. When they check in your child, they will receive a parent pick-up tag. As long as they have the parent pick-up tag, they can pick up your child at the end of VBS. If a different individual is picking up your child than the person who dropped them off, please share a picture of the pick-up tag with that person! A parent pick-up tag will be printed with a different number each day the child is checked in.
Can I drop my child off at the curb or in the lobby and let them check in and go to their crew on their own?
Parents/Guardians must walk their child into the building, check them in and sign them in with their Crew Leader in the auditorium EVERY DAY of VBS. Auditorium doors open at 8:30 am, VBS begins at 9:00 am. PLEASE NEVER DROP YOUR CHILD OFF OUTSIDE .
If my child misses Day 1, can a friend hold a spot for them in the same Crew?
Spots can not be held. However, if there is a spot available in the same Crew or a Crew that sits near a friend's Crew, we can place them there.
If my child is in Transitional Kindergarten or PreK, can they attend regular VBS?
If a parent volunteers the entire week of VBS, a child who is currently in Transitional Kindergarten or PreK can attend regular VBS.
What if my child does not like or is allergic to the snacks that are provided each day?
Your child can either skip eating the snack or bring their own peanut-free snack. All snacks must be placed in a zip-lock bag with the child’s name and given to the Crew Leader. In addition, if they are allergic to the snack items, please make sure you tell the Crew Leader so your child receives an Allergy Tag. The snack for each day will be posted above the check-in computer and will be on the parent take-home sheet.

Volunteers

How old do you have to be in order to volunteer?
Volunteers can be as young as 6th grade, but all 6th graders must be regularly serving in Hope Kids in order to volunteer with VBS.
Can I volunteer in the same Crew/area as a friend or family member?
When registering to volunteer, please note the friend or family member you would like to serve with, and we will do our best to assign you to the same area.
Can I bring a friend with me on Day 1 of VBS to volunteer?
All volunteers MUST be registered prior to the start of VBS. This allows our teams to assign volunteers to each area of VBS.
What if I am sick and can’t volunteer during VBS?
Please contact your campus Kids Pastor or area lead and let them know ASAP so they can fill your spot. Or, you may email hopekids@hopefellowship.net.
What do I wear to VBS?
Wear your VBS volunteer shirt with jeans, shorts, sweat pants, etc.. All shorts need to be fingertip length.
